“Beyond the Green”

"Day of Impact" 2023 Recap

Saturday, June 10, 2023 was GWMB’s “Impact Day”. The Golf Women Mean Business Foundation hosted a Teen Summit at Centennial High School in Roswell, GA and Dutchtown Middle School in Hampton, GA simultaneously. The feedback from the youth 8th to 12th grade included “entrepreneurship isn’t just about having a business but the things that give you success in life”, “learned the 50-30-20 rule for managing my finances” and “learned interpersonal skills” and “do the opposite of bad thoughts”. Fulton County Sheriff, Patrick Labat and Henry County Sheriff, Reginald Scandrett (both golfers) gave inspirational remarks which drew tons of questions from the kids.

The participants rotated to breakout sessions on entrepreneurship, teamwork, financial literacy, golf careers, and health and wellness. Thanks to speakers Greg Johnson, Owner, Comfort Keepers of Johns Creek and lifelong entrepreneur; Bobbi Johnson, Financial advisor, Morgan Stanley; Lanota Fludd, Counselor, The Summit Counseling Center; Lauren Shelley, American Junior Golf Association, Margo Taylor, Sheek Studio; Archie Emerson, Desicated Realty; Raquel Moss, Swann and Ms. Sid Khan, Dutchtown Middle School.

Thank you to Erin Thomas with American Heart Association for leading the hands only CPR demonstration, our golf instructors Adolphus Drain, a 16 year veteran of golf who enjoys giving back to youth, Niki Watson CEO, Future Successors, Lisa Leemore and Kim Stegall.

The participants had fun, learned nuggets for success in life and picked up some golf skills. At the close of the Summit, we had a putt off with the golf clinic putting contest finalists! Sending a MAJOR thanks to all leaders and volunteers for providing the participants with a great experience. 💞

Last but not least, we thank our sponsors: 1ST CHOICE CREDIT UNION American Junior Golf Association, Rent. Office Depot, Infinity Learning Summit Counseling Center - Atlanta, Morgan Stanley American Heart Association, Comfort Keepers BlaqueBook Management Group Progressive Techniques, Inc., Walmart Platinum Luxury Fleet and Golf Women Mean Business, LLC.

Whether with older family members or seasoned employers, golf creates the perfect space to bridge generational gaps.

The Golf Women Mean Business Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization where we employ an innovative strategy for introducing women and youth to golf while also supporting their ongoing development.

How We Can Make a Difference

Sponsor a Child

We provide golf experiences for youth who may not otherwise have the opportunity to be exposed to golf.

Volunteer Your Time

We organize a variety of skill seminars, sports camps, and more to enrich the lives of youth in our local communities.

Go the Extra Mile

We provide opportunities in golf for women to learn and participate in events that will build confidence in themselves and the sport.

Our Programs

We have 3 focus areas in the Foundation:

  • Scholarship - Provide scholarships to help offset costs for current students who compete on golf teams.
  • Access - We offer opportunities for women and children to access golf courses in a welcoming and supportive environment, making it easier for those who may feel hesitant to give it a try independently.
  • Experience - We offer golf opportunities and experiences for women and children.
